Mater’s Tall Tales

I put together a YouTube playlist of Pixar shorts called Mater’s Tall Tales for Cameron to watch.  Enjoy.

Just a few more days…

There’s only a few more days till the big move, so we’re hustling to get everything packed up.  It’s been nearly impossible to get any packing done during the week.  The boys keep us busy, and once they’re in bed it’s hard to get much done without worrying about waking them up.

The closing is on this coming Thursday, and then we’re moving on Friday.  Despite having only a 3-day work week, I think it’s going to feel like forever.  We’ve been looking forward to having a house for so long, and now it’s finally happening.

I can’t believe it.

The Inspection

Yesterday was a big day.

Amy and I met the Sharon (the realtor) and the inspector at the house. It was nice to hang out in the house for a couple of hours and really get a good feel for it.

The inspector took 2 or 3 hours and checked the house out from top to bottom.  Just as I was hoping, he didn’t have anything major to report.  The only issue were minor cosmetic problems, aside from one leaky sink in the half-bath.

The mortgage broker showed up around noon to go over all the paperwork with us, which only took a few minutes.  We signed our names until they were illedgible and then handed over all of the necessary financial documents so he could get the ball rolling.

Overall, things are looking very good, and Amy and I are very excited.  We’re already making plans for what to do once we’re in the house.

We’re buying a house!

Amy and I made and offer, and ultimately signed a contract on a house this weekend.  We’re so excited!

This was the first house that we both really fell in love with.  It’s 2400 sq ft, three bedrooms + a bonus room, two car garage, and a back yard big enough for the boys and the dogs to play in.  Check it out…

It’s official…

I am no longer an employee of Near-Time.  My last day with the company was Friday the 14th.  It was fun while it lasted, but it was time to move on.  Don’t worry.  I wasn’t fired, or anything like that, but unfortunately I’m not really at liberty to go into any details yet.

What now?  Thanks to my buddy Brendan, I was lucky enought to score a gig with Intridea.  As you can see, they’ve already added me to their people page…

Or you can see it here.

I’m working from home now, which is nice because that means that we didn’t have to relocate again.

So far it definitely feels like a step in the right direction.  They have excellent benefits and take great care of their employees.  We’ll just have to see how long I can stand working from home…

We’re free!

At 2pm on day four they finally let us go. Dr.Welch came to remove Amy’s suture, and give she and Dillan a final once-over. Fortunately we were already packed and ready to go, so I lugged all of our crap down to the car and we headed home. Dillan was a little fussy at first, but by the time we got on the highway he was asleep. Chubbs and Biscuit definitely missed us because when we got home they were going nuts. Once I got everything unloaded and Amy was settled in, I headed to the pharmacy to fill her prescriptions, which is where I’m standing while I write this. I’ll try to post an update after our first day at home.

An eventful day

Its day three in the hospital and we’ve been pretty busy despite not really doing much.

it seems like every time we turn around there’s someone coming in to check on Dillan and Amy or they’re bringing us this or that. Dr.Welch came by to do a follow-up on the two of them and everybody checked out a-ok. One of the nurses removed Amy’s dressing, so we got to see the incision for the first time. From what I can tell, it looks better than the first one since they didn’t use staples this time. They also took her off of the IV, which I know she was happy about, so she’s no longer chained down

Dillan had a big day also. We spent our first hour without him while the doctor performed the circumcision. He also learned how to feed properly during our second visit with the “Lactation Consultant”. It’s funny because breast feeding doesn’t seem like it would be all that complicated, but it is. You can’t just stick face to boob and expect it to happen just like magic.

What about me? Well, I’ve just been taking care of everybody as best I can. I help Amy while she’s recouperating, and I take care of Dillan when she’s not feeding him. In fact, I’m writing this on my iPhone while rocking Dillan as Amy takes a nap.

So far, today has gone pretty well. The only hard part has been remembering to call Dillan “Dillan”, and not “Cameron”.

Enjoying some company

Sherri, Chris, and Kim came by to hang out for a bit, which was good because I was starting to get a little cabin fever.

Everyone’s doing well

It’s early afternoon on Tuesday and everyone is doing well. Dillan continues to have a healthy appetite and is sleeping regularly. Amy is up and moving around, albeit slowly. So far everything seems to be going as well or better than the first time.
