Mississippi Mud Layer Cake
One of Amy's coworkers had the nerve to question her ability to bake, so we spent a good portion of the day making these two cakes. She did most of the work, but I helped with some mixing and icing.
We originally intended to only make one cake, but the recipe required two 10" pans and we only had 9" pans so I used the remaining batter in some smaller rectangular pans resulting in a second smaller cake. I cut a slice for myself as soon as they were finished. The cake is so rich that I couldn't even eat the whole slice, but damn is it good...
