We got together with Kim and Chris, and went out to nearby Jordan lake for the afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and the water was great. It's not the same as going to the beach, but it's so close and convenient, which makes it a really nice alternative.
We've had a lot of fun at the neighborhood pool this summer. Last summer, our first in the neighborhood, Dilly was too young for us to really take advantage of the pool. Now that he's a little older and a little more independent, it's easier for all to enjoy ourselves.
Cameron's learning his way around the pool and getting more comfortable with the water. He was deathly afraid of the water slide until I made him go down it. Now he can't get enough.
Dillan loves the water and has no fear of it. He'll walk right into deep water and he pushes away from us when we carry him around in the pool. It wouldn't surprise me if he were swimming on his own by next summer.
Joining the pool this summer was definitely money well spent.
The weather was nice today, so we went to the farm just down the road to pick strawberries. Actually, Amy did all of the picking while I chased Dillan around, and Cameron wandered through the strawberry field and checked out the old farm equipment.
We ended up with about 5 pounds of fresh, delicious strawberries which we used to make strawberry shortcake when the neighbors came over for dinner later in the evening.
I shot a quick video of Dillan playing with his blocks on the shelf in my office. He's changed so much in the past few weeks, between finally starting to walk a lot, and the way he plays with his toys. Now he does lots of stacking, building, and putting things inside one another, whereas before he pretty much just banged things around and knocked stuff over.
I have many loves: my boys, my wife, my dogs, my mac, the internet, cars, gadgets, and most recently, my house.
